Fake Gustave (偽ギュスターヴ Nise Gyusutāvu?) is a character in SaGa Frontier 2.

The specific origins of Fake Gustave are unknown. After a battle a wounded man claims to be Gustave XIII's grandson. He shows an 'ordinary' Anima stone as proof. A soldier takes the stone and puts on a show at Westia inn, trying to look like Gustave. He even dyes his hair blonde within seconds by the mere force of thought. Looking for subordinates the Fake Gustave leaves the inn and travels around Sandail.

Profile

Appearance

Fake Gustave bears a striking resemblance to Gustave as seen specially in his official artwork, he used to have white hair until by the power of The Egg he changed it into a white-ish blonde color.

He wears a small blue shirt along with dark brown pants, a small cape, iron shoulder pads, gloves, boots and a belt attached to his waist that holds his Galatyn.

Personality

Fake Gustave is described as a man with high ambitions in the artbook though that is barely seen ingame as his personality is reverted to zero and ends supplanted by that developed by The Egg.

Story

Fake Gustave is first seen in "1300 - Fake Gustave Arrives" in the Lordless Land where after what may have been some sort of skirmish against a group of bandits he is seen picking "an anima stone" (in reality being none other than The Egg) from a fainting man (likely the leader of the bandits) that claimed to be Gustave's grandson who showed him the "stone" as his proof, afterwards he goes to the Westia inn where he hears a conversation between the guests about the incident with the man claiming to be Gustave's grandson while asking them if he (now as The Egg) could declare himself "Gustave" which makes the guests laugh at him for the absurdity of the question before a guest says the less he could do to consider himself "Gustave" would be having blonde hair which prompts the impostor to change his hair from white to blonde, thing that surprises everyone, after that he asks about what else could he need in order to fully become "Gustave" which in response gets told to have a strong army and subordinates, this leds to the impostor to depart from the inn in order to start building his army of Edelritter with Sargon being the first one. While in the quarry site he finds Sargon and begins to stalk him until Sargon interacts with the Unknown Megalith unbeknowingly empowering his own anima and turning himself into the first Edelritter and becoming his vassal out of fear. Afterwards Fake Gustave and his army take over Hahn Nova before being defeated by King David (Count of Jade) and the Laubholz army at the legendary Battle of South Moundtop.

Defeated in the Battle of South Moundtop, Gustaf tries to find his body out on the battlefield finding nothing but realizing that the impostor and the Edelritter have vanished into thin air. Meanwhile Fake Gustave and his army of Edelritter have actually departed to the Star Megalith in the northern continent in order set in motion The Egg's ultimate plan of resurrection of The Ancients culminating in a fateful battle between the Edelritter, Fake Gustave now transformed into The Egg's Edelritter and Ginny's party resulting in the total anhililation of his forces, his death and with The Egg finally being destroyed for real this time, thus, liberating the world of The Ancients' atrocious plans.
