Buné (ビューネイ Byūnei?), also known as Dragonlord Buné, is a character from Romancing SaGa 3. She is one of the four Sinistrals, with her element being wind. She is also the only female of the group, and her fake form being the most human looking out of the fake Sinistrals. She can be fought two different ways depending on which way you choose. She can be found at Buné's Den and at the Final Abyss Gate.
Profile[edit]
Appearance[edit]
Buné appears as a slender, fair-skinned young woman with long blonde hair styled in upward-floating braids that resemble a ponytail. While she appears human at first glance, her pointed elven-like ears reveal her true nature. She wears an elegant red kimono-like dress with a plunging neckline, leaving her shoulders exposed. The kimono’s long sleeves are embroidered with intricate designs. A metallic bangle adorns her right thigh, and she is typically depicted either barefoot or in black high-heeled shoes, with her sprite form specifically showing the latter. Buné is often accompanied by three ephemeral spirits.
Her shadow takes the form of a blonde, long-haired woman with pointed ears in a purple dress, riding a three-headed beast. As the beast takes damage, its heads transform to resemble the three monsters residing in her lair. Of all the Sinistrals, Buné’s true form aligns most closely with her shadow, second only to Aunus.
Personality[edit]
Story[edit]
“ | Another of the four Sinistrals, there was the Dragonlord Buné, who built her foul nest on Taftan, claiming the skies were her own. Smiling vilely at those below from her mountain home, Buné heard the Matriarch's challenge. But her wickedness knew no honor and she refused to come to the valley below. he Matriarch sought out a legendary beast, the dragon called Dora dwelling in Mount Louv. Astride the dragon, the Matriarch took to the skies and their combined might made short work of the Dragonlord! Sending Buné back into the Abyss... | „ |

Gameplay[edit]
Strategy[edit]
Buné’s difficulty largely depends on the approach taken in battle. If fought in the traditional way, she will have more HP. Over time, as she takes damage, faces will emerge from the serpent-like creatures wrapped around her body. This increases both the frequency and strength of her attacks. However, with the use of powerful techniques and magic, this can be managed. The biggest threat she poses is her Earthlyzer technique, but positioning characters so that it only hits the front line can mitigate this danger.
Alternatively, if the fight involves Gwayne, Buné will appear with less HP and will be much easier to defeat, as she will primarily target Gwayne. While Gwayne has high HP, he can be defeated if he takes too much damage. Using wind magic like Dancing Leaf can help avoid some of her attacks, as this is a one-on-one battle.
In her true form, Buné becomes significantly stronger and can attack up to five times per turn. One of her most dangerous moves is her stare attack, which can charm party members. This is particularly risky as it can disrupt powerful techniques like Golden Dragon. She also uses Fast Nebula and her personal move, Trinity Blaster. To make the fight easier, Shadow Servant and Reviver are helpful. Dragon Inferno can also deal significant damage.
To counter her attacks, players can exploit her use of Fast Nebula and Trinity Blaster by having a character employ a combination of Shadow Servant and Matador (Epee). Having a dedicated healer or Life Canes (which are plentiful throughout the game) is highly recommended, as Buné attacks frequently, and her Trinity Blaster charges faster in her true form, often allowing her to use it without waiting a turn.
