Desert Mirage

From SaGa Wiki
Jump to navigationJump to search

Desert Mirage is a side-quest in Unlimited Saga, available from Iskandaria.

Objective[edit]

Somewhere in the desert is said to be an oasis that no-one has even successfully found. Even when in sight the oasis becomes obscured by fierce sandstorms, or simply vanishes before your eyes.

All you need to do is find the oasis in the alloted turn limit. Start by heading east to the Antlion Hill desert. You will find a message on the ground that reads;

"Wandering about, I have discovered a way to get near the oasis.

With the oasis in sight, go southwest, east, then..."

The note ends here. On the back, it reads in fine print:

"Waltz with the oasis."

Start moving around Antlion Hill in any direction until the oasis comes into sight. When you first see the oasis head southwest. If the oasis is still in sight, head east. If the oasis is still visible, head northwest (to complete a triangle pattern) to reach the fabled oasis and end the quest.

Occasionally, you will be confronted by a sandstorm. If the sandstorm builds up (you are in it for 3 turns) you will be attacked by a Desert Boar (Beast monster). The sandstorm can also interrupt the oasis sequence, making you find it again from scratch.

Number of turns: 120

Location[edit]

The Antlion Hill desert consists of 3 parts. The Western starting point is a small linear path that goes east towards the desert. The Antlion Hill desert itself is a single map square with 8 possible travel directions. Going in any direction will result in travelling to an infinite number of single map squares each with 8 travel directions. The final area of the desert is another small linear path, accessible on certain quests only.

The desert requires the use of the Road Guide skill to explore and has a high percentage of Fire elements during battle.

The Antlion Hill desert area is also used for the Crossing the Desert quest.

  • The message "Waltz with the Oasis" refers to the actual pattern of movement when dancing the waltz.
