Iskandar (イスカンダール Isukandāru?) is a playable character in Unlimited Saga. A legendary hero who seeks out the help of the fortune teller Sapphire. After he has his fortune read he enlists the help of Sapphire, and later Ruby to explore the mysterious Seven Wonders. He joins in Ruby's route.
Iskandar is a natural weapon user with good all round stats, but poor HP recovery.
He is voiced in Japanese by Nomura Kenji and in English by Rick Burford.
Appearances[edit]
- Ruby's Scenario: Playable Character, he'll join early on in the game.
- Mythe's Scenario: Cameo, late in the game, when visiting Iskandar's catacombs the second time, he'll appear.
The Legend of Iskandar[edit]
Once upon a time there was a group of ancient structures known as The Seven Wonders. Within them was contained the power of the gods; according to legend, when this power was released, the gods would appear, heralding the return of the Golden Age. It was also said that the deserts parching the land, ice fields of the polar regions, the forbidding mountain regions and the stormy oceans were remnants of a time when evil beings invaded the planet. Some believed these stories religiously, others dismissed them as myths; as far as adventurers were concerned, The Seven Wonders were the ultimate object of their quests.
Somewhere in the history of people, in the midst of their interactions and their wars, there appeared a man known as The Young Conquerer, The Hero of Legend, The Blood-Smeared Oppressor, The Chosen One, The Second Coming... Iskandar. At the time, he had conquerer nearly half of all known lands and vast new tracts of previously unexplored territory as well. His conquests finally returned the term 'world' to its true meaning and expanded the horizons of all - the culmination of a revolution which had been years in the making.
Iskandar, already a legend in his lifetime, gained mythical status after his death. He was the most widely researched historical figure of all time, and the one whose existence posed the most riddles. His death alone gave rise to legends - of assassinations, of death by disease, of flight to faraway lands or ascension to heaven. Some even claimed that he never existed at all.
There are people who connect the success of his conquests with the magical legacy of The Seven Wonders. Evidence even suggests that the Underground City of Pharos, one of the Seven Wonders, is located near Iskandaria, the town Iskandar founded and named in his honour.
Story[edit]
In Ruby's scenario, he appears early on. He wishes to find an old dagger of his friend, but Ruby just puts a random kitchen knife she finds at the kitchen and goes (much against his will) with Hiro to the cavern of the undead. There however both are attacked by many undead and Iskandar himself manages to come along and helps them defeat the undead. Afterwards he does not talk much about the entire events, even if he did later return the knife, claiming it was not the knife he was looking for. After talking a lot with Sapphire, they both decide to see the Seven Wonders, soon Ruby and Hiro join along. The journey goes calmly till Torle where the heroes begin visiting the Seven Wonders.
In Mythe's scenario he shows up towards the end. There, in his own mausoleum ironically, he meets Silver Girl and Mythe. There he does explain many details about Arcanians, only if Mythe wishes to.
Backstory from the Game Guide[edit]
Iskandar the hero disappeared from the history, but he never died. He was still alive and became "the Unlimited" that was superior to the God.
Under his sworn friend Leith Torles' guidance, Iskandar met a girl of "true people" (Arcanians, in this case the mother of Silver haired Girl). She taught him a truth of this world. After he became "the Unlimited" by Leith Torles' secret art, he left this world and began wandering from one world to another. (As his vassals didn't know that, they believed their lord had gone.)
"The Unlimited" can come and go between the worlds and is also invincible and immortal in all worlds except where he was born. He grows old only in the world of his birth.
Battle[edit]
Iskandar comes with Weapon Master Lvl 4, which enables to him use all weapon types efficiently, and with a 4 to both Strength and Skill he can deal large amounts of damage, especially with an Axe. However, he also has some good magic potential in Fire and Water.

Trivia[edit]
- Iskandar is the only party member in the game to only be playable in one story, all others following a "two-story" rule.
- His reasons for appearing in the Unlimited Saga world are never explained, and no theories or hypotheses are ever mentioned.
- Iskandar is clearly inspired by Alexander the Great , as evidence by the fact that the Persian version of "Alexander" is Iskandar.
