Amul Amut is an optional boss enemy from Romancing SaGa and it's remake, Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song. It is part of the Trials of Elore.

Appearance[edit]

Amul Amut is a grey cat with bright yellow eyes. It's battle sprite shows it in a fighting stance.

In Minstrel Song, it has an orange and white coat of fur with green eyes and an ornate piece of headgear.

Battle[edit]

Amul Amut has very high evasion and magic defense, being able to avoid almost all attacks and make spells useless against it, resulting in very little damage done from them. The only really effecient way to defeat it is to use weapons that bypass his high evasion, those being foils (Rapier, Estoc, Vernie Rapier, Earth Sword), which have the attribute of never missing and bypassing defensive capabilities. Otherwise, the fight revolves around mild trial and error. It will use Illusion and Fire spells, the latter being more destructive due to the inclusion of Fire Wall and Fireball, which can damage most if not all of your party members. Aside from that, Amul Amut also uses Fang moves such as Paralyse Fang and Poison Fang.

In Minstrel Song, Amul Amut received a nasty upgrade compared to the SFC version, being switched from a mix of physical and magical attacks to sole magical, replacing its' Pyrology spells with Cosmology spells. Bind to Earth will inflict Paralysis on a party member while Starlight grants a magical shield that ups the already high evasion even higher, making it practically impossible to hit when it gets all 5 up, Starbeam will deal heavy damage to a single character while Cosmic Tide will hit all party members with the stars gathered from Starlight. The stars will not disappear if the attack is evaded or nullified either. It ties with Scharach at 99 CHA and has the highest agility of any monster in the game behind full power Saruin
