There are various races featured in the SaGa franchise. There are about four primary races in the series so far, and usually they share the same world. There may be other sub-races as well.

Humans

Humans in the SaGa series are similar to the humans in the real world in appearance and functionality. Humans make up a large portion of playable characters in later games. They aren't as inclined in Magic as Espers.

Espers

Espers are humanoid beings who are magically inclined. General artwork show them as humanoids with elf like pointy long ears. They generally acquire Magic more easily than other races, sometimes randomly acquiring these abilities during battle.

Monsters

Monsters take on various physical forms, such as large animals, undead, humanoid animals, fish, and so on. They are often an antagonistic race, though some have been shown to be friendly creatures or willing to work as warriors in a party or guild. They are fully capable of communicating with other races. Some games such as SaGa 3: Jikuu no Hasha show that other races may transform into monsters by eating monster meat.

Beastmen

Beastmen appear in SaGa 3: Jikuu no Hasha. They are a hybrid of humans/Espers and monsters.

Robots

Robots are mechanical beings. Some may have been organic creatures such as humans or Espers who turned themselves into mechanical constructs, and others were first built as robots. This is shown in SaGa 3: Jikuu no Hasha where equipping robot parts will turn humans and Espers into cyborgs, then adding even more parts will transform them into full robots. They are usually un-receptive to Magic, and usually use technology weapons such as lasers and guns for battles.

Cyborgs

Cyborgs appear in SaGa 3: Jikuu no Hasha. They are a hybrid of humans/Espers and robots.
